Leftovers without a microwave?!

We recently decided that we wanted to stop using a microwave. Well, we really didn't use it anyway; we mostly just wanted the counterspace it was occupying, so it's packed away in the back of the storage closet for a trial separation. Generally it's been going well. All we ever really made in it was popcorn, and microwave popcorn isn't the best for you.

So yesterday, I decided to eat some leftover quinoa for breakfast with some leftover roasted chicken.

Gahh! No microwave.

Turns out, not such a big deal. I just threw the quinoa and chicken in a pot and heated it up. Then the pot did double duty as a bowl to keep the dish count down to that of the microwave. I think this no microwave business is going to be okay. If anything, it just makes you plan ahead a little because you can't defrost stuff as easily.

Leftover quinoa was tasty. It reheated well, and I added some basil along with the chicken.

Pairs nicely with beer (in my defense, I thought it was eleven thirty when I cracked open a beer for breakfast, not ten thirty. I don't have a problem. Well not with alcohol, but maybe with telling time).
